Court: Can I pay my fines over the phone or online?
The court does not accept payments over the telephone or online. You can mail in your payment via money order, bank check, or with your credit card information at the bottom of your fine notice. You can mail your payment to the DeWitt Town Court 5400 Butternut Drive, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Please note, there is a 2.99% fee associated with a credit card/debit card. You can also appear at the Court Clerks office Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm at the DeWitt Town Hall and pay, where you may use any method of payment besides personal checks. Personal checks received will be returned to sender.
Highway: When is leaf pick-up?
Leaf pick-up takes place in November and December, weather permitting. There is no set schedule. Click here for leaf collection guidelines.
Highway: When is brush pick up?
The Town Highway Department collects yard and brush debris once each month from April through October. Yard and brush waste is the “woody” natural material from your property including: cut pieces of trees, limbs and brush. Click here for Yard Waste Information and Pick Up Map.
Parks: Are dogs allowed in Town parks?
Yes, dogs are allowed at Town parks. They must be on a leash at all times and owners must clean up after their dog(s).
Police: Can I make an anonymous "tip" to the Town of DeWitt Police Department?
You can make a police related “tip” to the Town of DeWitt Police Department by sending an e-mail to: tips@townofdewitt.com.
Police: How can I get a copy of a police report?
You may obtain a copy of a DeWitt Police report in-person M-F, 8:30am - 4:30pm, in writing by mail, by calling (315) 449-3640, emailing police@townofdewitt.com or faxing (315) 449-3644. If you wish that a copy be sent by mail, please provide a self-addressed and stamped envelope. There is no charge for in-person, email or faxing. For copies of reports taken by other agencies, you must contact the responsible agency.
Police: How can I get myself fingerprinted by the Town of DeWitt Police Department?
The Town of DeWitt Police Department does non-criminal adult fingerprinting by appointment only. You must supply the proper fingerprint card. In order to make an appointment for this service please call (315) 449-3640 M-F, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Recreation: How can I reserve the DeWitt Community Room?
The DeWitt Community Room, located at 148 Sanders Creek Parkway in East Syracuse, it available to rent most days of the year when not being used for Town functions.

Recreation: How can I advertise on the electronic sign?
The Town of DeWitt has two electronic signs; one located at Erie Boulevard and East Genesee Street and the other at Bishop Grimes Jr/Sr High School on Kirkville Road. Both signs are available for use by not-for-profit organizations and businesses to publicize events in the Town of DeWitt.

Recreation: What is the Food Sense program and can I participate?
Food $en$e is a program of the Food Bank of CNY designed to help individuals and families save money on their monthly food bill. The program is open to anyone and everyone, there are no income or other requirements to participate and no obligation. New menus are offered each month featuring a variety of different food items. Taxes: When are my taxes due?
The exact date that taxes are due varies slightly from year to year. Generally, the School Tax is due during the month of September and the County and Town (“property”) Tax is due during January. No interest (“penalty”) is charged for payments made during this period. Click here for more information.
Taxes: How can I pay my tax bill?
You can pay with cash, check, money order or credit card. Checks are payable to: “Angela Epolito, Tax Receiver"
Payment can be made either in person or mail. Payment is accepted at the Tax Department counter at Dewitt Town Hall, 5400 Butternut Drive, during regular business hours and during any additional hours specified on the tax bills. Generally, Town Hall is open for the payment of taxes on the morning of the last Saturday in each collection period.
You can mail your tax payment to: Dewitt Tax Department, 5400 Butternut Drive, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Payments are considered “paid” as of the date of the U.S. Postal Service postmark. (Check your bill for alternatives to the Postal Service.)
Online payments can be made at www.ongov.net/rpts for an additional fee.
If you are mailing your payment on or near the last day, please note that the commonly used in-office franking machines such as Pitney-Bowes and Hassler do not constitute proof of mailing on the date stamped. We strongly recommend that you take your payment into a U.S. Post Office to insure that it is hand-cancelled with the date. The Taft Road Post Office generally has the latest postal box pickup.
Town Clerk: How do I obtain a parking permit for people with disabilities?
Parking Permits for people with severe disabilities are issued to town residents who meet New York State’s requirements. Application forms are available at the Town Clerk’s office and can be mailed to residents upon request.
Please Note: A new application form signed by a medical provider needs to be filled out each time a parking permit is issued or re-issued.

- Completion of New York State’s application form
- Certification of need by an authorized medical provider.
- Drivers' License or non-driver ID card shown to issuing agent, if applicant has one

Water: How often do I get a water bill?
Residential bills are mailed out semi-annually. All others should contact the Water Department Office at (315) 446-3910 x 4.
