WHEN
:  Tuesday, June 5, 2023; gates open at 4:00pm; event 5:00pm - 6:15pm 

WHAT: Syracuse Challenger players and their families, alongside dignitaries and celebrities from Central New York will kick-off the 2023-2024 baseball season with a spectacular Opening Day Ceremony at Carrier Park’s “Field of Dreams.” The Syracuse Challenger Baseball program is one of the oldest and largest Little League programs for special needs children and young adults in the nation, and has grown from just 10 players in the 1980’s to nearly 300 players today. Several major announcements will take place during the ceremony including: 

  • The announcement and presentation of the Challenger World Series Little League Team
  • The largest private donations ever gifted from the Lobdell and Lalley families kicking-off a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to expand Carrier Park and build a “Superfield” 
  • National Anthem Performance by singer/songwriter Steven Page
  • Keynote address by Kayla McKeon, Syracuse Challenger Alumni and Down Syndrome Lobbyist
  • Video messages for the Challengers from The New York Yankees, ESPN and others
