NOTICE: The Boardwalk in the Butternut Creek Trail is CLOSED until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience. The paved trail and all other amenities remain open and available for public use. 

  • Butternut Creek Recreation and Nature Area is located off Kinne Road between Butternut Drive and Cedar Bay Road. This 67.5-acre parcel has a 0.7 mile paved pathway that connects Kinne Road to the Wegmans parking area on Genesee Street. It features wooded areas, Butternut Creek, freshwater wetlands, a vernal pool and fishing dock.
  • In addition to the paved trail, other amenities include beautiful native gardens, benches donated by the DeWitt Rotary, a newly paved parking area on Kinne Road, and a stone dust trail and footbridge that provides a safe connection to the Old Erie Canal Historic State Park.
  • Parking is available on Kinne Road and on the west side of Wegmans.
