VEHICLE STORAGE

The Town of DeWitt adopted a law in 2008 that took effect on January 1, 2010. It places greater restrictions (location and time of storage) on recreational vehicles, large commercial vehicles and other equipment in residential neighborhoods. The law was adopted following persistent complaints of homeowners about such vehicles and the inability of the Town to correct the same.

See the links below for details of the law and status of neighborhood overlay exemption proposals.

How to obtain a neighborhood exemption
from the law - The new law provides a way for owners of single family homes in a contiguous neighborhood of fifty or more homes to petition the Town for exemption from the law. See Vehicle Storage Petition Form, below.

The RV Petitions Nos. 1 and 2 and the recent Petitions Nos. 3 and 6 covering Franklin Park are the reports and recommendations of the Department of Development & Operations (D&O) to the Town Planning Board, Supervisor and Town Board. The reports are the second of four steps in the Overlay Exemption process.
