DeWitt’s Residential Solid Waste (RSW) program consists of residential Garbage, Recycling, Yard & Brush collection, and metal drop off day.
DeWitt has a town-wide refuse district contract for the weekly collection of household garbage and recyclables. Service is provided by Syracuse Haulers. The cost to each residential property depends on the owner-selected “service level” – the volume of trash to be picked up each week. Residents may change their Service Level once each year. Contact the Town Development & Operations office if a service level change is desired.
Recycling rules are established by OCRRA. Common recyclables are collected at the same time as household garbage and later separated from materials that will be incinerated. OCRRA’s Blue Bins are used for recycling containers.
Yard & Brush wastes are collected from the curb-side in the months of April through October by the DeWitt Highway Department. Leaves collection is provided during November and December. In both yard wastes and leaves collection materials shall be kept on your property and off the road.
A metals and electronics drop-off day occurs in the spring at the Highway Department. Residents may drop-off clean, household scrap-metal and electronics...most items are free of charge. |
