The Town of DeWitt Department of Planning and Zoning provides the services of code enforcement, permitting and building inspections; and serves as the liaison to various Town boards and committees including the Planning Board, Zoning Board, and DeWitt Advisory Conservation Commission. The Department is responsible for guiding land use and development within the Town as well as leading current and long-range planning activities.
The Town of DeWitt Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2002 and identifies opportunities for economic growth as well as the means for preserving community resources and character. Prior to 2002, the previous Comprehensive Plan for the Town was adopted in 1961. The Department worked with the Comprehensive Planning Committee to develop an update for the 2002 plan, which was adopted in April of 2017 by the Town Board and included a revised implementation plan and updated land-use plan for the Town.
