|Town of DeWitt Court Update - 7/24/20|
Notices and Alerts
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, all Town and Village Courts in the State of New York, including the Town of DeWitt Court, are presiding “virtually” over most matters. “In Person” appearances, when “virtual appearances” are not feasible, are scheduled by the court clerks, with notices sent to all of the litigants.
All Vehicle and Traffic matters are initially being held by mail and an explanation of plea options may be found on the Town of DeWitt website under Departments > Court, Plea Options link or click here for plea options.
If an “In Person” appearance is required and/or requested, masks are required to be worn and social distancing protocols will be enforced. A full description of the Town of DeWitt Court Safety Protocols may be found on the Town of DeWitt website under Departments > Court, Safety Protocols link or click here for safety protocols.
Civil matters, including small claims and eviction actions may be filed with the Court Office by mail or in person. Fine and surcharge payments may also be made by mail or in person at the Court Office.
Should you have any questions or wish to contact the Town of DeWitt Court, due to staffing limitations and call volumes, we suggest it be done in writing by either emailing your request to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mailing your written inquiry to the Town of DeWitt Court at 5400 Butternut Drive, East Syracuse, New York 13057. Please be as specific as possible in your written request and be sure to provide your return address and telephone number. Court staff will address your inquiry upon their receipt. Please do not contact any other Town of DeWitt Department as they will not be able to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented time.
Please stay healthy and well.
Hon. David S. Gideon
Hon. Robert L. Jokl, Jr.
