How can I get help for sewer problems?
If you suspect the problem is outside your home/building you may call a plumber or the Onondaga County Sewer Maintenance office at 435-3157. This number is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the problem is on the

“public side” – ie, in the street or in the sewer lateral to your property line, then the County and Town are responsible for repairs. The Town will generally assume responsibility for these situations and the County – as the Town’s contractor - will take care of the problem.

If the sewer problem is on the private property side, the owner is generally responsible for repairs or maintenance.

How do I initiate an inquiry or complaint?
Call or email the Development & Operations office and we will respond as soon as possible.

What can be done about water in my yard/basement?
Seasonal water on a property or in a below-grade room such as a basement is common and is generally the responsibility of the property owner. IF another property owner is directly placing water on your property by way of piping OR the water is dirty as a result of soil erosion the Town may be able to help you.
