The Development & Operations office of the Town of DeWitt has available for inspection new Floodplain Maps and the associated Flood Insurance Study prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Administration or FEMA.

It is important that property owners inspect the maps to determine if their land is now withing a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). If your land is found to be in this Area and you have reason to believe there is an error, then a “protest” may be filed with FEMA if there is factual evidence to indicate the same. Such protests or amendments should be filed as soon as possible.
Any DeWitt property owner or person with an interest in protecting property that may be affected by flooding is welcome to visit the office to inspect maps, and receive floodplain information - including insurance- during the work-week from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
