Earth Day Clean Up
April 27, 2019, 9:00 AM
Environmental awareness - and responsibility - is also integral to our goal of “building community” in the Town of DeWitt. And, our Earth Day Clean-up is one of the best events we have in the Town; it’s always an enjoyable community-building event, a great way for us to connect with one another “live and in-person.”
This year’s clean-up will be on Saturday, April 27, 2019, 9:00am-12:00pm. There will be 3 clean-up locations: Town Hall on Butternut Drive, Robbie T’s on North Street in Jamesville, and the Village Deli on W. Manlius Street in East Syracuse. As always, supplies and refreshments will be available at each site.
Think about bringing along your family, a group of friends, neighbors, or business associates to work together to clean up the Town. With so much media, marketing, advertising, and technology inundating our daily lives, events like this really do connect us and “build community.”
Our sincere thanks to Dennis Payne, DACC Chair, who heads up this Earth Day event. If you have questions, please contact Dennis at (315) 469-0565 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT DEWITT’S ANNUAL EARTH DAY CLEAN UP, WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2019.
DeWitt’s annual Earth Day clean up, sponsored by the DeWitt Advisory Conservation Commission (DACC) will take place on Saturday, April 27. This date has been designated by OCRRA as Onondaga County’s official day for Earth Day clean up events. For this reason, we are obligated to follow that schedule; however, in DeWitt, we have always encouraged people to volunteer on an alternate day, if Saturday is not appropriate or convenient for them. We have always had groups that clean on the Friday of that week. Other groups and individuals volunteer on Sunday or even at another time. This year, Saturday, April 27 is also the final day of Passover, so it will be especially important for people to understand that they are not expected to work on that date if it is inappropriate for them to do so.
Anyone who wants to volunteer with us at a time other than Saturday, April 27, is asked to contact Dennis Payne at email@example.com or (315) 469-0565 as it will be necessary for us to deliver clean up materials to you (bags, OCRRA stickers, safety vests, etc.).
Thank you to everyone for your understanding.
Dennis J. Payne, Chair, DeWitt Advisory Conservation Commission
