ASSESSMENT APPEAL PROCESS

If you believe your assessment is incorrect, please feel free to contact the Assessor’s Office.  Our staff will help you with any questions or if you would like an informal meeting an appointment will be made for you. 

Some information that may be helpful to bring with you to a meeting is a recent purchase contract with the closing statement, recent sale information of similar homes in your neighborhood, a current appraisal of your property.

If you are not satisfied with the results of that meeting you may file a formal grievance with the Town of DeWitt Assessment Board of Review.  The dates for filing this grievance are from May 1st to the 4th Tuesday of May.  Grievance day is always the 4th Tuesday of May.  Forms must be filed in our office by 8 PM that date to be reviewed by the board.
