Ryder Recreation and Nature Area

Ryder Park is a 12-acre park located adjacent to the DeWitt Town Hall on Butternut Drive. The park features a butterfly house, the James L. Guyette Arboretum a bicycle and exercise trail, canoe launch into Butternut Creek, fishing pond, picnic areas, grills, playground, tot swings and a pavilion with restrooms.  The Galster Pavilion is available for rental on a seasonal basis.

Trails

Ryder Park has trails composed of both crushed stone and wood chips.  These trails accommodate walking, jogging, biking, nature observation, and exercise activities.  The trails provide a direct link to the Erie Canal National Historic Park and may be accessed from the DeWitt Town Hall parking lot or the Erie Canal Towpath.

Directions to Ryder Park
Take Rte. 481 to Exit 3 (DeWitt)
Off the exit stay in the right lane
Bear right onto Erie Blvd.
Turn right on Kinne Rd.
At the second stop sign turn left onto Butternut Dr.
Turn right into the second lot on Butternut Dr.
Ryder Park shares the lot with the Town Hall

OR

Take Rte. 690 to Bridge St. (Rte. 290) Exit
Turn left onto Bridge St. (Rte. 290)
Turn right onto Butternut Dr.
Turn left into Ryder Park (DeWitt Town Hall)
